DMCA Policy – UK Tales

At UK Tales, we are deeply committed to upholding the intellectual property rights of creators and copyright holders. We expect all users and contributors to our platform to respect these rights as well. This Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) Policy outlines our procedures for addressing claims of copyright infringement on uktales.co.uk. Our aim is to provide a clear and efficient process for copyright owners to report alleged infringements and for content providers to respond to such claims.

1. Our Dedication to Copyright Protection

We believe in fostering a creative and respectful online environment. UK Tales is a platform dedicated to sharing unique and original content about England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Netherlands. We take copyright protection seriously and are prepared to take swift action when we receive valid and legally compliant reports of infringement. Our commitment extends to protecting the original works of our contributors and ensuring that our platform remains a space for authentic storytelling.

2. Reporting Copyright Infringement (DMCA Notice)

If you are a copyright owner or an agent authorized to act on behalf of one, and you believe that your copyrighted work has been copied and made accessible on the UK Tales website in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please send a written notification (a “DMCA Notice”) to our designated Copyright Agent.

To ensure your complaint is valid and can be processed efficiently under the DMCA, your written notification must include substantially all of the following information:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed. This signature legally affirms the veracity of your claim.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site. Please provide specific details to help us identify the work.
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit UK Tales to locate the material. The most effective way to help us locate and address the alleged infringing content quickly is to provide specific URLs (web addresses) where the material can be found on uktales.co.uk.
  4. Information reasonably sufficient to permit UK Tales to contact you, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address. This is crucial for us to communicate with you regarding your claim.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law. This confirms your genuine belief regarding the infringement.
  6. A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed. This legal declaration underscores the seriousness of your claim.

3. Our Designated Copyright Agent

Please send your complete DMCA Notice to our designated Copyright Agent via email:

Email: contact@uktales.co.uk (Please include “DMCA Notice” in the subject line of your email to ensure it is promptly directed to the correct department and handled efficiently.)

Upon receipt of a valid and complete DMCA notice, UK Tales will review the claim. If the notice is found to be valid and compliant, we will take whatever action, in our sole discretion, we deem appropriate, which may include promptly removing or disabling access to the challenged content from our website.

4. Counter-Notification Procedures

If you are a content provider and believe that material you posted on uktales.co.uk was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification of the material, you have the right to file a counter-notification with our Copyright Agent.

To be effective, your counter-notification must be a written communication that includes substantially all of the following:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or access to it was disabled.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which the address is located, or if your address is outside of the United States, for any judicial district in which UK Tales may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notification of the alleged infringement.

Upon receipt of a valid counter-notification, we may send a copy thereof to the original complaining party informing them that we may replace the removed content or cease disabling it in 10 business days. Unless the copyright owner files an action seeking a court order against the content provider to restrain the alleged infringement, the removed content may be replaced, or access to it restored, in 10 to 14 business days or more after receipt of the counter-notification, at our sole discretion.

5. Repeat Infringers

UK Tales maintains a policy of terminating access to our website for users who are determined to be repeat infringers of copyrighted works. We reserve the right to apply this policy at our discretion to protect the integrity of our platform and the rights of content creators.
